Alliance helps brighten a WA DVR Family's
Holiday
Alliance Enterprises, Inc. staff sponsored a
local DVR
family again this year. Tina Wilbur of Alliance Enterprises, Inc., delivered a
car full of presents to the local DVR office. Alliance contacted the local DVR office to
coordinate sponsoring a family in need. Although not a
formal program, the DVR office selected a family
participating in the rehabilitation process, which needed a
bit of help this year.
Happy holidays and New Years greetings from the
Alliance team!

Pacific Northwest Rain Storm Alliance Update
As many
of you have heard, a powerful Pacific storm battered the
Northwest on Monday December 3, 2007, blocking roads with
fallen trees and causing power outages to over 80,000
people. Flood waters closed all lanes of Interstate 5 near
Centralia, where the majority of major flooding occurred.
Luckily, the
Alliance headquarters was not significantly
effected by the storm's high winds and torrential
down pours. The new facility was designed with
considerations to the northwest weather including
industrial generators to keep our teams up and
running during power outages.
For a better perspective of
the flooding please visit our
photo gallery of aerial images taken from
the hardest hit areas. |
Olympia, WA is about 24 miles North of Centralia,
WA.

October 2007
National Disability Mentoring Day
Here at Alliance Enterprises, we were proud to be part of
the
National Disability Mentoring Day held on October 17,
2007. Disability Mentoring Day is an opportunity for
students and job-seekers with disabilities to get a first
hand experience in the field they are interested in
pursuing.
It was a pleasure to host Ms. Lena Boyce, a student at
South Sound Community College who is studying graphic
design. Anne Wax, Laura Walker, Betsy Cousineau and Chris
Hill participated in “mentoring” Ms. Boyce. Ms. Boyce
learned about Alliance and how we work as a team, our
product AWARE, our customers, our
newly designed website and a how one gets a job a Alliance.
We each shared our career paths along the way and how we
found Alliance. Ms. Boyce was delightful and enthusiastic
about her own career path. She also shared a website she
created to display and sell her artwork and photography.
Alliance received a very nice thank you from Ms. Boyce
who commented: “I just wanted to formally thank you for
taking the time to meet with me. All the information and
feedback that I got from you, Anne, Laura and Betsy is going
to help me a lot in the future. I really love the way your
company operates, as well as the atmosphere at Alliance.”
 |
We wish Ms. Boyce great
success in her career and Alliance looks forward to
participating in next year’s Disability Mentoring
Day program! |

Fan!
Tahlia Duerre,
Lisa's great niece and pen pal, is having fun
tracking the progress of the X-Country Tour as her
aunt and uncle reach new destinations.
She creatively decorated a bulletin board
showcasing a U.S. map with rhinestone stickers she
added to mark locations, souvenir postcards sent by
Lisa from each state they have traveled through, and
a copy of the
tour
itinerary.
Keep up the good work
Tahlia!

Alliance donation helps local high school band
HP has a program where they give money to
schools for all the HP Toner Cartridges they collect and
send back to HP. We are donating our used cartridges to a
local high school and they are using the money they received
from HP to support a special needs student participating in
the high school band so he can pay for his band trips
including a trip in 2008 to San Francisco, California to
study with college music professors and perform in concert.
We will continue to give our used
cartridges to the school and they will continue to
use the funds raised to support their special
programs not fully funded by tax payer dollars.
