What drove the AWARE architecture decision?

• Support accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

• Provide a consistent, intuitive way to manage case work.

• Quickly adapt the system for changing business needs.

• Make the system last as long as possible before replacement.

• Allow customers to customize the system to meet their specific needs.
   

This led to the decision to build AWARE using a logical multi-tiered architecture. This makes it possible to scale the system from 10 users to 10,000 users by redefining the physical hardware platform and redistributing the logical tiers in different ways on physical equipment. We use load balancing and clustering to accomplish this.
